St George

Kristine “Kris” Ecker Argyle passed away in St. George, Utah on April 27, 2024, with loved ones by her side.

Kris was the one who showed up for her family every time. Everyone had fun when she was there.

Born in Salt Lake City on May 27, 1951, to Dorothy and Raymond Ecker, Kris spent childhood winters on skis and summers at Fish Lake with her grandparents.

After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1969, Kris attended Utah State University and married Paul Argyle on November 20, 1976. Together they share two daughters and three grandchildren.

Kris remained young at heart and relived her happy childhood with her grandkids. Whenever she came to town, the kids watched for Grandma's car and lit up with joy when she walked in the room. On long road trips, Kris passed down her music taste to her girls, grandkids and anyone along for the ride. No matter where they were in life, Kris’ family knew they could count on her.

She was curious, always looking for answers to life’s mysteries in the pages of books or on the History Channel. Studying history, politics or global events was Kris’ lifelong hobby. There were other hours spent outside in her rose garden, on trips around the country and to Europe, spring skiing with grandchildren, and listening to The Beatles.

If you wanted to have a long conversation, Kris was the one to call. She told her girls and grandchildren about everything—from family history to what it was like to see the Beach Boys play at Lagoon in the ‘60s.

When there were funny family shenanigans, Kris was always the first to crack a joke. She laughed her way through it. We’ll never forget her beautiful smile.

Kris is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother David (Laura) Ecker, her beloved Bestefar, and a big extended family that she couldn’t wait to see again. Kris is survived by her husband, Paul Argyle; daughters, Dina Argyle and Kristina (Jared) Fields; three grandchildren Olivia (Drew) Green, Casey Morley and Clayton Fields; her older sister, Susan (Russell) North; and younger brothers, Scott Ecker and Robert Ecker.

The family is holding a private celebration of life for Kris.

Kris always gave to those in need. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a local women’s shelter. If you knew and loved her, plan a ski day with your family or spend time outside in nature. You will find her there.

Kris was one of my best friends in Elementary and also in High School.  We had so many fun laughs and teen girl fun times, boy crushes and all the drama that goes with that.  We had our first job together at KFC take out department on 3900 South.  Our other partner in crime was Nancy Doty who also worked with us at KFC.  We would all get together after work and get a burger and drag state street.  Fun times.  My condolences and sympathy to the family.  Shine bright beautiful angel.

Kris invited me to a sleepover at her home in high school and I loved it.  She kept me laughing the whole time and I always wanted to spend more time with her,  For some strange reason, I have been thinking of her lately and wondering what prompted it.  Maybe I have gotten a little more time with her!
