I remember when I was going to Hillcrest, my grandma came to stay with us and at the kitchen table she was reading the obituaries. With a twinkle in her eye, she said "you know you are getting old when you read the obituaries." I never got to know Kemp but remember seeing him at school and my condolences to his family.
Vicki Cram was also my neighbor when we first moved from Calif to Utah, living in Steffensen Heights. We went to the same ward and schools. She was known for being very short but also very friendly and vivacious. She had the gift of making people feel special. She will be missed on this side of the veil.
I remember Jackie sat in front of me in seminary and she had a special "aura" about her. The seminary teacher seemed to show her special attention. Anyway, I enjoyed knowing her with her beautiful long hair.
I attended several classes with Doug and always enjoyed his comments and friendship.
As a teen, I remember sitting at the kitchen table with my Grandma and she told me "you know you are getting old when you read the obituaries first before reading anything else in the newspaper." I am now older than she was when she said that. We are going through a "second graduation" as one by one, we graduate from this life to the next. It is sad to see these people depart and not attend future class reunions but at the same time, we are happy for a life well lived and for the life they will now have, beyond the second graduation.

I didn't particularly like my school years, but how I wish I could go back and do it over again. I didn't realize it then, but our class, the school and the school district were really special, first class, I would even say elite. Great faculty, great facilities and great students. As I compare what we had back then to what our kids and grandkids have today, I kick myself for not appreciating it more as I don't think the same quality exists today. I would even trade my smart phone for the manual typewriter and correction tape, for the chance to go back.
Dave, happy upcoming birthday. Where are you these days and how are you doing?
Don, I only seem to see you at my family funerals but we appreciate all you have done for our family. I just learned of Jeff Arnell's passing. Although belated, I would appreciate any thing you could do to get this message to them.
Thank goodness for this classmate site or I would not have known about Jeff's passing. I first met Jeff when we were ten years old at a little league baseball game. I was a pitcher and thankfully, Jeff was on our team. He was very athletic and strong and hit several home runs. We saw his athleticism on the Hillcrest football team as a kicker. Jeff was also in my ward and was always a great guy to be around. My best wishes to his family.
Dan, would you make sure this reaches his family or send me their email? Thanks!
